England, who lives and works in Ojai, California, creates work exploring the ancient art of macramé (a form of textile construction) through the use of unconventional scale, material, and composition. Using her hands as tools, the labor-intensive process is intimate and meditative as she interprets different archetypal symbols, patterns, and shapes. The results of her work are tactile and magnetizing tapestries that invite us to reconsider the artistic potential of the age-old technique.   Sally England (b. 1979, Michigan) has exhibited her fiber-based installations and wall hangings extensively, including her most recent solo exhibition at the Grand Rapids Museum of Art. England's work can also be found in a multitude of online and print journals as well as in numerous public and private collections.
