During their 2-week residency, Farley and Schaedel transformed the 2,500 sq. ft. project space into an experimental, site-specific installation using unadorned building materials, re-imagined as formal and often playful arrangements. Sheets of drywall, nails, sawhorses, signage and tools are transformed from recognizable elements of construction into unexpected forms.
Farley and Schaedel also connect with their photographic roots, including a new series of photographs alongside and sometimes within the individual pieces. The photographs, which often take on 3 dimensions also partake in the exhibition's larger dialogue about the unexpected exploration of materials. The results of these material combinations is an immersive, multi-layered and at times humorous installation.
